Sumit Agrawal, an engineer-turned-businessman from Visakhapatnam, sent Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Rs 364 to buy a pair of formal shoes, reported PTI. He said he was “deeply aggrieved” when Kejriwal wore sandals to a state banquet at Rashtrapati Bhavan, which was against the dress code. The banquet was hosted by President Pranab Mukherjee in honour of French President Francois Hollande on January 26.
Agrawal sent Kejriwal a demand draft of Rs 364 on Monday by speed post, and said in an open letter to the Aam Aadmi Party leader that he took to the streets to collect the money. Criticising the minister, he said he was representing the country that day at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, not staging an AAP dharna. Agrawal added in the letter that this “modest” amount should be enough for someone who claims to not have a pair of shoes despite having a monthly income of Rs 2,10,000.
The chief minister’s office declined to comment on the matter.
