Britain's Prince Charles on Wednesday announced plans for a new fund worth millions of British pounds, dedicated to help Indian farmers break out of poverty. The fund will be generated by British Asian Trust, which works to help disadvantaged people in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal transform their lives by harnessing the strengths of the region's diaspora in the UK, reported PTI.
Prince Charles is the founder and president of the trust. The 67-year-old heir to the British throne said the trust's focus will be on farmers with small holdings. The complete details of the fund will be made public over the course of this year. The trust also finalised its "largest-ever fund" dedicated to support skills training for Pakistan's most disadvantaged people alongside charity partner, the Aman Foundation.
