A man in Hyderabad turned up to cast his vote in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections on Tuesday with a voter identity card carrying the name and photograph of Bollywood actor Salman Khan. Surprised staff at the polling booth in Charminar division’s Gowlipura did not let him vote, IANS reported.
The card shows the voter’s age as 64, while the actor is 50. It also quoted the man's father's name being Saleem Khan, similar to Salman Khan's father Salim Khan. Locals said the case highlighted the way election authorities issue voter ID cards. “Genuine voters in a locality don’t get identity cards, or their names are deleted without any notice,” said Syed Haider, a local.
