The Punjab Police on Tuesday arrested an alleged Inter-Services Intelligence agent in Pathankot. The spy, who the police said worked for Pakistan's premier intelligence agency, had taken up a job as a labourer inside the Mamoon Army Cantonment, NDTV reported. The accused was identified as Irshad Ahmad, according to The Hindu. The Mamoon Army Cantonment is one of the army’s most important military bases in Pathankot.

Investigators recovered several photographs of sensitive locations on Ahmad's cell phone. The report further said Ahmad was given the task of sending these photographs to his Indian handler, Sajjad, based in Jammu. Sajjad then reportedly shared the pictures with his Pakistani handlers via email and secure messaging services. Sajjad was recently arrested in a pending case regarding the Arms Act, and will now be questioned based on Ahmad’s revelations.

Early last month, the Indian Air Force base in Pathankot was attacked by militants believed to be members of the Jaish-e-Mohammed terror outfit. Seven security personnel were killed in the attack, along with six terrorists. A Pakistani government team is investigating the attack. However, a report in Pakistani newspaper Dawn quoted a source saying that the investigation has made no headway and that the team needed more evidence from India.
