The Budget session of Parliament is likely to begin on February 23, reported PTI. The Cabinet Committee of Parliamentary Affairs, headed by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, will meet on February 4 to finalise the broad schedule. Though the main focus of session will be transaction of the General and Railway Budgets, the government is keen to get the contentious Goods and Services Tax Bill and Real Estate Bills passed during this session.
The session usually begins in the third week of February and concludes early May. The General Budget is expected to be presented in the Lok Sabha on Feb 29. The Assembly elections in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam and Puducherry, which are scheduled to begin in the middle of the session, are likely to affect the number of sittings.
