A man was tonsured and paraded through the streets of Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday after Bajrang Dal workers accused him of converting three men to Christianity. He was also accused of feeding them beef, which is banned in the state. The Times of India said the right-wing workers also garlanded him with shoes after shaving off his hair, eyebrows and moustache.

When police arrived at the scene in Jalaun, a mob did not allow them to take custody of Awdhesh Savita. Police later returned with more forces and with Provincial Armed Constabulary personnel and took Savita to the Orai Kotwali police station. Deputy inspector general of Jhansi range, Sharad Sachan, said FIRs were filed against two Bajrang Dal men. Reports said that no arrests were made.
