The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has decided to send a notice to Hindi news channel NDTV India regarding its coverage of the Pathankot airbase attack, reported PTI. The ministry observed that the news channel violated norms by broadcasting sensitive information such as the locations of sensitive spots in the airbase while the anti-terror operation was still going on.
"Telecast of such strategically sensitive information could affect the operation and could even case damage," a ministry official told PTI. Live coverage of anti-terror operations is not allowed under the Programming Code, which has to be followed by news channels as per the Cable TV Networks (Regulation) Act.
