A Pakistani man, who is a fan of Indian cricketer Virat Kohli, was arrested on Tuesday for hoisting an Indian flag atop his home while watching the India-Australia T20 match. Umar Draz, who lives in the Okara district of the Punjab province, said he had hoisted the flag as a declaration of his support for Kohli and the Indian cricket team.
The police, however, raided his home, booked him and seized the flag for good measure. They also found posters of Virat Kohli on his walls. Draz was charged under the Maintenance of Public Order law, produced in a local court and remanded in police custody. He insists that he is not a spy and did not know he was doing something illegal, but is simply a sports fan, PTI reported.
