David Warner (122) and Mitchell Marsh (102) dug Australia out of a hole on Friday at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The hosts were in a bit of a fix at 117-4 after being asked to bat by India. However, the duo then both scored centuries and shared a 118-run partnership for the fifth wicket, allowing Australia to eventually post 330-7 on the board in 50 overs.

Aaron Finch, Steven Smith, George Bailey and Shaun Marsh were all dismissed cheaply as Australia were earlier staring at a low total. The dangerous Warner then started the counter-attack along with Mitchell Marsh at the other end, as Australia soon picked up the momentum.

Warner was dismissed for a fine 122, but Marsh carried on and remained unbeaten on 102. For India, debutant Jasprit Bumrah made a good first impression, bowling a disciplined line and length to finish with bowling figures of 2-40 off his ten overs.
