Aam Aadmi Party head Arvind Kejriwal could become the first Indian chief minister to have his wax figure at Madame Tussauds. London's famous wax museum is set to open its first Indian branch in Delhi next year. Wizcraft Entertainment International, the Indian partner of Madame Tussauds, reportedly wrote to Kejriwal on January 11, requesting him to accept its invitation “to be an esteemed waxwork figure at the new attraction in Delhi”.
The Indian Express reported that although the museum’s foray in India is a year away, its London-based creative team is expected to be in Delhi for a sitting with Kejriwal in early February. The announcement of the museum coming to Delhi was made during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the United Kingdom in November. It is part of a series of cultural exchanges slated for the India-UK Year of Culture in 2017.
Madame Tussauds, which is located in 20 cities across Europe, the United States, Asia and Australia, includes the wax statues of Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Kareena Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Hrithik Roshan and Sachin Tendulkar.
