Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Monday said that any individual or organisation causing pain to India should be paid back in the same coin. Addressing a seminar organised by the Indian Army, Parrikar said history suggests that until those who inflict harm on others experience the same pain, they don’t change. The defence minister, speaking against the backdrop of the Pathankot terror attack, specified that this was his personal opinion and should not be considered the Centre's stand.
"I always believe that if anyone harms you, he understands the same language," Parrikar said. [The] basic principle is that until we give them pain, whoever they may be, such incidents will not reduce," he added, without particularly referring to Pathankot. He also said that the country was proud of the seven soldiers who were killed in the attack, reported PTI.
