Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Pathankot air force base late on Saturday morning amid tight security. The base was struck by terror attacks last week, suspected to have been carried out by militant group Jaish-e-Mohammad. Modi is also expected to make an aerial survey of the Indo-Pak borders.
Security officials on Friday said the base was “fully sanitised” after a search and combing operation that lasted three days. Six terrorists were killed, and seven Indian security men died in the attack. The attack came after Modi made a surprise visit to Lahore to see his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif, and comes before a meeting of the Indian and Pakistani national security advisors.
