Defence minister Manohar Parrikar confirmed on Tuesday that all six terrorists who attacked the Pathankot airbase on Saturday have been killed. He added that the four-day-old operation to secure the compound was still under way and "might be finished by tomorrow". Parrikar also confirmed that no suspected terrorists were inside the airbase premises right now.

Addressing reporters at the airbase, Parrikar said the security forces "have done an excellent job containing these highly motivated terrorists on a suicide mission". He added, "We didn't compromise on security. [The] operation was carried out without compromising any asset, strategic or otherwise."

The defence minister also said that from the weapons recovered so far from the terrorists, there are indications that they were sourced from Pakistan. He added that the soldiers killed in the attack will get "battle casualty status" and all its benefits.
