The Indian Navy successfully test fired Barak 8, an Indo-Israeli surface-to-air missile, early on Wednesday morning. The missile was test fired from the INS Kolkata, Navy spokesperson Captain DK Sharma said. After the missile was test-fired from two Israeli ships, this was the first test aboard an Indian vessel.
The Barak 8 was designed to defend against a variety of airborne threats, and can simultaneously engage multiple targets in any weather conditions, NDTV reported. Israel will reportedly use the missile in defending its offshore gas fields.
