Former solicitor general Gopal Subramaniam wrote to National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Tuesday asking for officers to form a special investigation unit to look into alleged irregularities in the Delhi and District Cricket Association. Subramaniam was appointed the chief of a commission set up by Arvind Kejriwal to look into the irregularities and investigate Union minister Arun Jaitley’s role in them. Subramaniam asked for five men from the Central Bureau of Investigation, Intelligence Bureau and Delhi police.

The investigation into the DDCA’s alleged corruption has caused a huge row between the Centre and Aam Aadmi Party, with Delhi Chief Minister Arind Kejriwal refusing to apologise for the accusations he made against Jaitley. The investigation has also been called unconstitutional by Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, who has refused to sanction it even after it was approved by the Delhi Assembly.
