Yoga guru Baba Ramdev is likely to skip a visit to Jawaharlal Nehru University to address its students on December 30. A group of students had protested against the invite issued to him, calling it a “silent right-wing onslaught”, The Times of India reported. The invite was criticised by some political parties too. JNU did not withdraw its invite to Ramdev, and said it had not received his RSVP .
Professor GN Jha, member of the organising committee, said the administration had no agenda to support any political parties and that Ramdev received the invite because of his quality work in yoga. He also added that students had the right to protest, but that the invite to Ramdev still stood. The student’s union on Monday demanded that JNU withdraw the invite to Ramdev and threatened to protest.
