Gujarat won the 2015 Vijay Hazare Trophy after a comprehensive victory over Delhi in Bengaluru on Monday. Batting first, Gujarat put up an imposing 273 all out in 50 overs, riding on captain Parthiv Patel's maiden List A century (105).
It was always going to be a daunting target for Delhi, but they hardly got going, slumping to 11/2 and then 27/3. Rishabh Pant, Shikhar Dhawan and Gautam Gambhir all fell cheaply while Pawan Negi provided the only measure of resistance, dealing some lusty blows to finish with a quickfire 57 off 47 balls.
For Gujarat, former Indian pacer RP Singh provided the early impetus, picking up four wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah took care of the lower order with a five-wicket haul.
This is Gujarat's first Vijay Hazare trophy triumph, while Delhi will be disappointed to finish second best after performing so well at the beginning of the tournament.
