A suicide bomber blew himself up near Kabul airport on Monday. At least one person died and 13 were injured in the attack, Reuters reported. A police officer said that the bomber walked up to a pick-up truck and detonated the explosives he was wearing. The attack took place near the airport's military entrance, which is used by NATO and coalition forces, Al Jazeera reported.
Taliban claimed responsibility for the act. Its insurgents have launched several attacks in the Afghanistan capital this month. At least nine people, including three attackers, died at siege at the Spanish embassy guest house in Kabul on December 11. A suicide bomber also attacked a joint Afghan-NATO convoy near Bagram airbase outside Kabul earlier in the month, killing six US soldiers and wounding three others.
