British astronaut Major Tim Peake on Friday dialled a wrong number from the International Space Station and said, “Hello, is this planet Earth?” to a woman on the other line. He later issued an apology, clarifying that he was not playing a joke on the woman, The Guardian reported. “I’d like to apologise to the lady I just called by mistake saying ‘Hello, is this planet Earth?’ – not a prank call … just a wrong number!” he tweeted.
On Christmas Day, the space station will be flying 250 miles above the French-Spanish border. Peake, who is the first official British astronaut, and the rest of the crew aboard will be witness to the beautiful sights of Christmas lights in all the European cities they will be cruising over post sunset.
