Veteran Bollywood actor Sadhana died in Mumbai's Hinduja Hospital on Friday. She was 74 years old. Although the cause of death is still not clear, reports said she had been ill recently, and has had a history of thyroid problems.
The actor was known for films like Parakh, Hum Dono, Mera Saaya, Wo Kaun Thi and Waqt. She was introduced to films with her role in Love In Shimla opposite Joy Mukherji, which was directed by RK Nayar, whom she later married. With Raj Khosla’s Ek Musafir Ek Hasina, Sadhna rose to fame and only got more popular.
Sadhana was often compared to Hollywood actress Audrey Hepburn for her fringe hairstyle, which became a fashion statement because of her in the 1960s. She retired from cinema after acting in Intaqam in 1969, and directed a few films including one with Bollywood icon Dimple Kapadia in 1989.
