Australian captain Steve Smith became the fourth player from his country to win the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy after being adjudged the ICC Cricketer of the Year 2015.
The 26-year-old batsman finished as the leading scorer in Test cricket during the voting period, ending up with 1,734 runs in 25 innings at an average of 82.57.
In an ICC press release, Smith said, "Given that there are so many great players around the world, I’m incredibly honoured to receive these awards. While team success is always my number-one motivation, awards like this are very special. I’m thrilled and very proud to receive them"
South Africa's One Day International captain AB de Villiers won his second successive ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year award. His South Africa teammate Faf du Plessis won the ICC T20I Performance of the Year award for his 56-ball 119 against West Indies in game at Johannesburg in January.
Australia's Meg Lanning won the ICC Women's ODI Cricketer of the Year award and West Indies' Stafanie Taylor was named ICC Women's T20I Cricketer of the Year.
