French police arrested a 29-year-old man in the Paris region on Tuesday, as part of their investigation into the November 13 attacks in the city, a judicial source said. One French media report claimed that he was planning to travel to Syria, according to the BBC.
As many as 2,700 police raids have been conducted since the massive probe was launched, while 360 people have been placed under house arrest since the attacks by the Islamic State terror group.
Earlier, two men were taken into custody as they were accused of providing accommodation to Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the suspected leader who was killed in a police raid five days after the attacks. Eight men have been arrested in Belgium, where the attacks are thought to have been organised, and one man has been detained in Turkey on suspicion of scouting the concert hall, bars and restaurants where the attacks took place.
French citizen Salah Abdeslam, who is believed to have played a key logistical role, is still absconding and subject to an international arrest warrant.
On November 13, Paris was hit by a series of coordinated attacks, which left at least 130 people dead. The carnage was considered the deadliest attack on France since World War II, for which ISIS claimed responsibility. Suicide bombings and mass shootings were launched at restaurants and cafes across the city as well as in the Bataclan music hall and the Stade de France in the northern Parisian suburb of Saint-Denis.
