The special investigation team probing the murder of Communist Party of India leader Govind Pansare filed a chargesheet against prime suspect Sameer Gaikwad on Monday in a Kolhapur court, The Hindu reported. Gaikwad, an activist of right-wing organisation Sanatan Sanstha, was arrested on September 16 and is in judicial custody till December 18.
The 392-page chargesheet filed by the police has interrogation details of as many as 77 witnesses. On February 16 this year, two unidentified persons on a motorcycle shot at Pansare and his wife in Kolhapur. While his wife survived, Pansare died later in a Mumbai hospital. He was among the leaders who had led Kolhapur’s anti-toll movement.
