The Mumbai Police on Monday arrested a suspect in the murder case of contemporary artist Hema Upadhyay and her lawyer Harsh Bhambani. The police arrested Shiv Kumar, alias Sadhu Rajbhar, in Varanasi after he confessed to having gagged Upadhyay and Bhambani. He will be brought on a transit remand to Mumbai, reported The Indian Express.

Earlier, the police had detained another person in Varanasi as they believed he had knowledge of Kumar's location. Four people have already been detained by the police in Mumbai. Upadhyay's estranged husband Chintan Upadhyay was also questioned by the police on Sunday.

In 2013, Hema Upadhyay had filed a complaint of harassment against her husband, alleging that he had painted obscene sketches on the walls of their home to humiliate her. Bhambani had represented her in the case. However, the court had ruled that since the figures had been painted in his own room, no offense had been committed.

On Saturday, the police found the bodies of Upadhyay and Bhambani packed in boxes and wrapped in plastic in a sewage drain in the northern Mumbai suburb of Kandivali. The two had been missing since Friday evening.
