External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj informed the Lok Sabha on Monday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif had decided to resume National Security Agency-level talks when they met in Paris last month. Swaraj added that India was restarting talks with Pakistan on the basis of trust, reported PTI, and that it marks the beginning of peace between the two countries.
The Union minister said that peace, security and terror were the focus of her talks with her counterpart Sartaj Aziz and Sharif during her two-day trip to Pakistan last week. Earlier, while addressing the Rajya Sabha, Swaraj expressed hope that a “comprehensive bi-lateral dialogue” will bring peace and development to the two nations. She said that both countries believed mutual estrangement were a hurdle to prosperity in the region.
