Finance minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday attacked the Congress party regarding the repeated disruption of Parliament by its leaders due to the National Herald case. In a Facebook post titled "Why the Congress is wrong", Jaitley wrote that the party should contest the case in court and not disrupt the Parliament.

Criticising the Congress for forcing repeated adjournments in both Houses of Parliament for the third straight day, Jaitley said that neither the government nor the Parliament can help the party in the matter. "Why then disturb the Parliament and prevent the legislative activity from continuing?" he wrote. "By disrupting democracy the financial web created by the Congress leaders cannot be undone," the finance minister added.

Jaitley also defended the complainant in the case – Bharatiya Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy. He wrote, "It is the duty of every citizen to report an offence when it comes to his notice. Any citizen can set the process of criminal law into motion." He added, "India has never accepted the dictat that the queen is not answerable to the law."
