India's comprehensive 3-0 win over South Africa in the recently concluded Test series has helped them shoot up to the second spot in the International Cricket Council world Test rankings. After being fourth before the series, India jumped two spots, displacing Australia and Pakistan. Virat Kohli's men are now just four points behind front-runners South Africa.
Man of the Series Ravichandran Ashwin's performances with both bat (101 runs) and the ball (31 wickets) meant that he is now the top-ranked Test all-rounder, displacing Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan. Ashwin, who is in the second spot in the Tes bowlers rankings, has also reduced the gap with Dale Steyn who is on top by just four points.
Ravindra Jadeja's impressive performance with the ball (23 wickets) has catapulted him into seventh spot, the first time he has entered the top ten, while Ajinkya Rahane (266 runs) has displaced Virat Kohli as the highest-ranked Indian batsman, currently at twelfth.
