Newly appointed Chief Justice of India TS Thakur on Sunday said that the rule of law and judiciary protected the interests of all communities and there was no intolerance against any group in the country. The 43rd CJI said he did not want to get involved in the ongoing debate on what some people have argued is an ongoing atmosphere of intolerance in the country, saying there were some “politics involved” in that question, the Times of India reported.
Thakur added that citizens would not be victimised or thrown out of the country while the judiciary was in place, and that tolerant was India’s most fundamental quality. “We are capable of protecting the rights of all citizens cutting across caste, creed, religion," he said.
