Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday gave his 14th Mann Ki Baat address, and condoled the deaths of victims in Tamil Nadu’s recent floods, saying that he had faith in the people of the state. Modi said he was sad to see the devastation the rains caused and added that the tragedy was because of climate change and global warming. “Checking global warming is everyone's responsibility. Energy conservation is the best way to do it,” he said, ahead of his departure for the climate change conference in Paris. Modi said he has spoken to Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and suggested that all SAARC member countries come together and work towards disaster preparedness.
Mann Ki Baat is Modi’s attempt to reach out to people across the country, where he speaks to the public in an address twice a month. In this edition of Mann Ki Baat, PTI reported that Modi also urged the public to give suggestions for his new scheme ‘Ek Bharat, Shresht Bharat’, which will be aimed at strengthening the country’s unity and harmony.
