A three-year-old boy died on Sunday after falling into a 30-foot-deep open borewell in a village in Medak district, Telangana, while playing near it with his brother the day before. His parents, who are farmers, were working in the fields when the incident took place. A police team and an ambulance reached the spot to supply oxygen into the pit, while rescue workers and villagers gathered at the spot through Saturday.
The New Indian Express reported that an earth mover and an excavator were used to dig a parallel pit in an attempt to get to the child, but they had only managed to go around 7-8 feet deep by Saturday night. Additional power supply had been provided and lights had been arranged to aid the rescue process. However, the child's body was taken out of the borewell on Sunday and he was declared dead, ANI reported.
