Former media magnate Peter Mukerjea was subjected to a lie detector test by the Central Bureau of Investigation on Saturday after a special court in Delhi gave them permission to perform it the day before. Mukerjea, who is in the CBI’s custody in connection with the Sheena Bora murder case, was questioned for five hours about various holes in the story about his involvement in the affair. India Today reported that Mukerjea was grilled on whether funds for his and his wife Indrani Mukerjea’s media firm were siphoned off to an overseas account in Bora’s name. This might have led to a dispute between Bora and her mother Indrani Mukerjea, who is the prime accused in the case, they said.
CBI officials also reportedly got details from Mukerjea on the family's finances, including his taxes and investments he and Indrani had made in India and abroad. His statements will allow the CBI to determine a motive in the murder case, which has eluded them so far. Mukerjea has been claiming that he did not know that Bora had been killed. Indrani Mukerjea, her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and her driver Shyamvar Rai have been accused of murdering Bora on April 24, 2012.
