The parents of the December 16, 2012, Delhi gangrape and murder victim have demanded that the face of juvenile convict be shown to the world before his release next month. They have made the request to the National Human Rights Commission and Home Minister Rajnath Singh. The victim’s parents said “he is a threat to society” and the “most brutal” of the gang of six who raped their daughter, reported PTI.
The parents added that they have heard he has been “indoctrinated inside the juvenile home” in which he was kept for almost three years, and that they did not want a repeat of what happened to their daughter. The victim’s father also said it was important the juvenile’s state of mind be assessed before he is released, adding that there should be a mechanism to keep check on such convicts after they are released back into society.
The NHRC issued notices to the Centre and Delhi government based on their complaint. Delhi police officials are reportedly looking into whether the convict can be booked under the National Security Act after his release. The police had earlier found that the juvenile was allegedly in touch with an accused of the Delhi High Court blast in 2011.
