Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday lashed out at the Centre on issues ranging from intolerance in the country to the Goods and Service Tex Bill, ANI reported. Addressing an audience of students at the Mount Carmel College in Bengaluru, Gandhi said the belief of "live and let live" is the country's biggest strength and the only way to live peacefully is to have a dialogue, reported PTI.

Asked about the Congress party's stand on the long-awaited GST Bill, Gandhi said that the legislation is important, but "there are certain issues [with it] and the government should reach out to the Opposition to discuss them". He added, "We want a GST that suits the country and is beneficial to people. [We are] ready to have conversation with the government."

Gandhi also hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his belief that "one man alone can transform the country". He said that he stood by his earlier remark that the Modi government is a "suit-boot ki sarkar", which favours only five or six corporates close to dispensation. He added that in order to help the economy, the Centre must take economic growth to the poor people, while the current government is slashing funds for education and healthcare.

Gandhi also spoke out on the intolerance debate, saying, "I don't like what is happening. It disturbs me as an Indian."
