The Narendra Modi-led central government has appealed to all parties to pass the Goods and Service Tax Bill in the Winter session of Parliament, said parliamentary affairs minister Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday. At an all-party meeting, the prime minister said that the legislation is in the interest of the nation, Naidu added. Modi also said that finance minister Arun Jaitley will speak to all parties to address their doubts on the legislation. The prime minister said that the Parliament should run constructively and fulfill the expectation of the people, according to Naidu.

The parliamentary affairs minister also revealed that 38 legislative items, including seven new Bills for introduction, will come up in Parliament in the Winter session, reported PTI. “We need to leave memories of [the] Monsoon session behind and move forward,” he said. “The government is aware of Opposition concerns like [the] Dadri killing,” he added.

The winter session, which begins on Thursday, is set to be stormy with Opposition parties planning to target the central government on a range of topics, including intolerance and price rise.
