The Centre on Tuesday announced that a team of its officials will visit Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh to assess the damage caused by heavy rains and floods this month. A statement from the finance ministry said that the team will visit Tamil Nadu on November 26, and then Andhra Pradesh later once its report on Tamil Nadu is out. The statement also said the Centre had released funds to both states for relief.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa had earlier sent a detailed letter to the central government detailing the damage caused by the floods in the state. So far, Andhra Pradesh has received a total of Rs 830 crore in relief, while Tamil Nadu has received Rs 939 crore. The Centre said it will provide further assistance after its teams report the damage caused to both states.
