An Indian soldier was killed on Monday in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, when Pakistani troops fired on a patrolling team in the Nowshera sector. The Hindustan Times reported the Army sepoy’s name as Sugmesh, and said he succumbed to injuries while being transferred to an army hospital nearby. This is the first casualty along the Line of Control after a brigadier-level meeting between Indian and Pakistani officials in Poonch in October.
In a separate incident, three Hizbul Mujahidden militants were gunned down on Monday in the state's Anantnag district. The militants had opened fire on security personnel in Siligram village when they were shot. Another militant was also killed in the Kupwara district.
