Delhi Dynamos were in scintillating form as they brushed past Pune FC 3-1 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi. Adil Nabi and Anas Edathodik scored for the Dynamos in the first half to give them an early ascendancy. A John Arne Riise penalty in the second half sealed it for them before Adrian Mutu grabbed a late consolation goal for the visitors.
The Dynamos dominated large portions of the game and could have easily scored more. Both their goals came from corners in the first half with Nabi and Edathodik managing to score from close range. For Pune, Mutu created much of the chances and had a sharp chance just before half-time which Delhi keeper Antonio Doblas managed to keep out. Wesley Verhoek for Pune had another chance to reduce the deficit but failed to shoot on target.
The match was sealed when Singh brought down Adinga in the penalty box to get his second yellow card. Riise stepped up and easily put it past the keeper to make it 3-0. Though Mutu scored late from a lovely free-kick, it was not enough. With this win, Delhi move up to second in the table, while Pune fall one place down to fourth.
