The Delhi High Court on Wednesday asked the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to provide the Delhi & Districts Cricket Association provisional clearance needed to host the fourth Test match between India and South Africa at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium. The High Court also appointed Justice Mukul Mudgal as an observer for the match beginning December 3, pending his approval. The DDCA had to get a provisional certificate from the MCD in order to get the nod from the Board of Control for Cricket in India to host the match.
The DDCA had approached the High Court after a two-member panel appointed by the Delhi government recommended its suspension following corruption allegations. The panel said that the BCCI had been unable to convince them that there were no irregularities within the DDCA. On November 10, former Delhi cricketers, led by Bishan Singh Bedi, had met Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alleging widespread corruption and financial irregularities in the cricket association.
