The Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday said in a Delhi court that it would re-examine a case against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots if fresh evidence is provided by the wife of one of the victims. The CBI made the statement in a reply to a plea filed by Lakhwinder Kaur, whose husband Badal Singh was killed in the riots. Kaur had urged the court to defer passing of any order on the CBI’s request to close the case on Tytler, as she has been able to trace the addresses of “untraced witnesses” involved in the case. The CBI said it had no objection if Kaur furnished the information to them. The matter will be heard again on December 4.
