The Pakistan cricket team travelling to India for a bilateral series is out of the question, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Shahryar Khan asserted on Monday. BCCI president Shashank Manohar had invited Pakistan’s team to play the series in India in December. India in 2014 had agreed to play a series in the United Arab Emirates, where Pakistan hosts its home matches. However BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur had recently said that the Indian government may not permit India to play Pakistan in the UAE.
“I am still awaiting the reason behind not playing in UAE," Khan told ESPNcricinfo, pointing out that UAE had hosted the first leg of Indian Premier League’s 2014 edition. UAE has been acting as Pakistan's home venue since the 2009 terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team.
PCB fears a loss of $50 million if the series is held in India. BCCI, however, had reportedly offered PCB a revenue share from the broadcasting rights and a participation fee. According to the MoU signed in 2014 between the two cricket boards, Pakistan were to host India for a home series comprising two Tests, five One Day Internationals and two Twenty20s.
