Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar staked claim to form a new government in Bihar on Saturday after a joint meeting of the Grand Alliance. The Bihar cabinet recommended the dissolution of the current state Assembly to Governor Ram Kovind after Kumar submitted his resignation. The state's newly elected JD(U) legislators elected Kumar as their leader again on Saturday.
Earlier, the governor accepted Kumar's resignation, but requested him to continue as caretaker chief minister till a new government is formed, reported IANS. He is expected to be sworn in as chief minister on November 20 in Patna. The new cabinet will comprise 16 ministers from Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal, 15 from the JD(U) and five from the Congress.
