Bharatiya Janata Party MP Shatrughan Sinha on Thursday backed the statement by party veterans asking for accountability for the loss in the Bihar elections. Sinha said, "Now that the verdict is out and we're saddened by this humiliating defeat, we should not run away from fixing responsibility."
On Tuesday, BJP veterans LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Shanta Kumar and Yashwant Singh slammed the current leadership for its loss in Bihar and asked for a thorough review of the debacle. They said the party has been "emasculated in the last one year" and was being "forced to kowtow to a handful". Sinha said that the four senior leaders were "bang on target". He also said that keeping him away from campaigning might have adversely affected BJP's tally by a few seats in the state elections.
Begusarai BJP MP Bhola Singh also added to the criticism, saying the Bihar polls outcome has proved that Narendra Modi magic is "not durable". Singh also said that party president Amit Shah was "drunk in power" and the top party leadership was always seen "surrounded by sycophants." He told NDTV, "Cancer has spread throughout the BJP, which has to be removed. Leadership should be one in which everybody has faith which is lacking at present."
