An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 struck Bangladesh on Friday.
The tremors were also felt in Kolkata, videos posted on social media showed.
At least three persons were killed in Dhaka and more than 50 were injured, Prothom Alo reported.
The damage from the quake was not immediately clear. The earthquake struck at about 10.30 am Indian time.
The epicentre of the quake, which took place at a depth of about 10 km, was near Dhaka. Shallow earthquakes tend to be more destructive.
The exact epicentre was 14 km west-southwest Narsingdi town, according to the United States Geological Survey.
