Two suspected militants were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara on Saturday, the Indian Army said.
The Army said it launched a joint operation codenamed Pimple in the Keran sector of Kupwara on Friday based on specific intelligence input from agencies regarding an infiltration attempt.
“Alert troops spotted suspicious activity and challenged, which resulted in terrorists opening indiscriminate fire,” the XV Corps said, adding that contact was established and the militants were trapped.
The security forces are still conducting searches in the area, the Army said.
