Three Army personnel, including two Agniveers, were killed in an avalanche at the Siachen base camp in Ladakh on Tuesday.
An Army captain was rescued after being trapped for nearly five hours, India Today quoted unidentified officials as saying.
The soldiers who lost their lives belonged to the Mahar Regiment and were reportedly from Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.
They were identified as Sepoy Mohit Kumar, Agniveer Niraj Kumar Choudhary and Agniveer Dabhi Rakesh Devabhai, the Army said.
Siachen, described as the world’s highest and coldest battlefield, witnesses frequent avalanches as temperatures can drop to minus 60 degrees Celsius.
