An Army soldier killed himself by accident with his own service rifle on Monday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, PTI reported.
Sepoy Suresh Biswal was on guard duty at the Sarna camp in Bhaderwah when his colleagues heard a gunshot and found him in a pool of blood.
He was taken to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival, the news agency reported.
According to the initial inquiry, Biswal was fatally injured while unloading the chamber of his rifle, Bhaderwah Superintendent of Police Vinod Sharma said.
The police official added that an investigation was underway to determine the exact cause of Biswal’s death.
