IPL 2020, MI vs SRH live: Professional MI cruise to an easy 34-run win
Follow live coverage of match no 17 of the 2020 Indian Premier League between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Both Pollard and Russell are bowling important overs at the back end of the T20 innings. Both can walk into any T20 side purely as a batsman...imagine the flexibility and depth their team gets if they’re giving crucial overs too. #IPL2020

SRH 174/7 (20)
MI win by 34 runs!
MI were just too strong for SRH. They got the runs on the board and then their bowlers finished off the job with great professionalism. Rohit Sharma was tactically very good as well.
SRH 172/7 (18.5 overs; Rashid 1)
WICKET! Abhishek tried the ramp shot, he missed and Bumrah hit his middle stump. Simple.
Abhishek Sharma b Bumrah 10(13)
SRH 168/6 (18.2 overs; Abhishek 10)
WICKET! A six off the first ball and gone off the second. Samad tried, one has to give him that.
Abdul Samad c Rohit b Bumrah 20 (9)

10 - Jadeja
9 - Curran
8 - Narine
Surprising names! #MIvSRH
SRH 162/5 (18 overs; Abhishek 10, Samad 14)
Sunrisers Hyderabad need 47 runs in 12 balls. SRH desperately looking for their own Tewatia.
SRH 158/5 (17 overs; Abhishek 7, Samad 13)
Sunrisers Hyderabad need 51 runs in 18 balls. Samad comes in and hits a six and a four off consecutive balls for Bumrah. Hope still floats, if only just.
2️⃣ very important and sensational catches taken by @rdchahar1 & @ishankishan51 have put #MI in a strong position.#IPL2020 #MIvSRH
— Sachin Tendulkar (@sachin_rt) October 4, 2020
James Pattinson has bowled very nicely today. He's consistently forced mistakes, bringing a false shot with 21% of his deliveries - the most of any bowler in the match. #IPL2020 #MIvSRH
— The CricViz Analyst (@cricvizanalyst) October 4, 2020
SRH 142/5 (15.4 overs; Abhishek 5)
WHAT A CATCH! Pattinson’s wide slower ball induced the edge and Kishan at short third man took a brilliant diving catch to end the innings.
Warner c Ishan Kishan b Pattinson 60(44)

What a catch from Ishan Kishen. Useful to have a keeper fielding in the inner ring! This is now seriously advantage MI.
— Joy Bhattacharjya (@joybhattacharj) October 4, 2020
SRH 139/4 (15 overs; Warner 58, Abhishek 4)
Sunrisers Hyderabad need 70 runs in 30 balls. By this point, Warner should be motoring along but he doesn’t inspire much confidence. Where is the mad dasher of old?
SRH 130/4 (14.1 overs; Warner 57)
Garg holes out in the deep. Super catch by Chahar on the boundary line. Wicket for Krunal. More pressure on Warner.
Priyam Garg c Rahul Chahar b Krunal Pandya 8(7)
SRH 130/3 (14 overs; Warner 57, Garg 8)
Sunrisers Hyderabad need 79 runs in 36 balls. SRH need a big over now to ease the pressure a bit. Garg, probably, needs to start going for a few big shots.
SRH 123/3 (13 overs; Warner 51, Garg 2)
Sunrisers Hyderabad need 86 runs in 42 balls. Warner is still there in the middle and he needs to be there in the end. Garg had a pretty good last game and he will be confident too.

SRH 116/3 (12.2 overs; Warner 51)
Boult’s slower bouncer gets Williamson, he just guided it to the keeper. Brilliant bowling.
Williamson c de Kock b Boult 3(5)
SRH 115/2 (12 overs; Warner 50, Williamson 3)
50 off 34 balls for Warner. It hasn’t always been easy but we might just see him at his best today.
That’s a big wicket for #MI. @im_manishpandey was batting really well and looked calm and composed to take the game to the wire. Don’t think Pollard would miss a catch like that even in his sleep.😋#MIvSRH #IPL2020
— Sachin Tendulkar (@sachin_rt) October 4, 2020
SRH 109/2 (11 overs; Warner 47, Williamson 0)
It started off slowly for Warner but he is slowly finding his touch. A lovely four and six off Krunal Pandya in the over. Sunrisers Hyderabad need 100 runs in 54 balls.
SRH 94/2 (9.5 overs; Warner 33)
Pandey falls to Pattinson, finds Pollard in the deep. Made a fine 30. No timing on the shot. Williamson is in next.
Manish Pandey c Pollard b Pattinson 30(19)
#MI have already bowled 3 overs of spin out of a possible 8. #SRH won’t be bothered abt Warner’s strike rate. Scoring at still 9-plus. Set up for a big finish again this! #MIvSRH #IPL2020
— Chetan Narula (@chetannarula) October 4, 2020
SRH 86/1 (9 overs; Warner 27, Pandey 29)
The partnership is already with 51 off 28 balls. Pandey has looked good right from the start but Warner is slowly getting into the stride. More importantly, SRH have the platform. But MI still have three Bumrah overs left in the bank.
David Warner's Timing Rating so far in this innings is 89. Only once in his last 20 innings has he timed the ball worse in his first 20 balls at the crease. Tough going for the Aussie opener. #IPL2020 #MIvSRH

SRH 70/1 (8 overs; Warner 18, Pandey 22)
Pandey dropped by Pandya on the fence off Pollard. Maybe the sun was in his eyes but that was a big let-off. Pandey is striking the ball well.
SRH 59/1 (7 overs; Warner 16, Pandey 15)
Stunning over by Krunal. Lots of changes of pace, line, and even action. Everything he could do to put the batsmen off and it worked.
SRH 56/1 (6 overs; Warner 15, Pandey 13)
Bumrah into the attack and Warner greeted him with two consecutive fours. Important shots for Warner who has looked out of form in the tournament so far. And then Pandey hit the fifth ball for another four – he just seemed to push it down the ground but it sped away. Lovely timing this!
SRH 34/1 (4.1 overs; Warner 6)
WICKET! Slower delivery from Boult and Bairstow is deceived and ends up hitting that straight to Pandya. Good innings but gone too soon.
Bairstow c Hardik Pandya b Boult 25(15)
SRH 34/0 (4 overs; Warner 6, Bairstow 24)
Warner has 6 for 10 and that might be fine but it will rob Bairstow of momentum and SRH can’t afford that.
SRH 30/0 (3 overs; Warner 3, Bairstow 24)
MI got spin into the attack early. The pacers didn’t have much of an impact and Rohit decided to go with Krunal. And it looked like it was working for the first four balls but then Krunal dropped one short and Bairstow hammered it into the stands.
SRH 20/0 (2 overs; Warner 2, Bairstow 18)
Bairstow is striking it well already. Two superb fours in the Pattinson over show that the MI bowlers aren’t going to have it easy.
The game has changed on its head in a single over many times in this #IPL2020 the question is which over this game? #SRHvsMI
— S.Badrinath (@s_badrinath) October 4, 2020
SRH 8/0 (1 over; Warner 1, Bairstow 7)
Jonny Bairstow got his innings underway with a maximum downtown off Trent Boult. Just planted the front foot down the pitch and hammered it. It is that kind of pitch.
SRH 0/0 (1 overs; Warner 0, Bairstow 0)
A lot will depend on how SRH start. Warner and Bairstow need to be at their best against a formidable MI bowling line-up.
They've got some work to do!

MI 208/5 (20 overs; Pollard 25, Krunal 20)
Wow. What a cameo by Krunal. 4 balls, 2 sixes. 2 fours. SR of 500! He has given MI such a big boost here. Kaul finished with match figures of 4-0-64-2, ER of 16.00.
MI 188/5 (19.2 overs; Pollard 25)
Kaul’s yorker sends back Pandya. Simply perfect.
Hardik Pandya b S Kaul 28(19)
MI 187/4 (19 overs; Hardik 28, Pollard 24)
Natarajan’s spell comes to an end. Once again, a brilliant exhibition of yorkers. He got the first ball wrong and Pollard got a six. But brilliant after that.
Rashid Khan: 1/22 in 4 overs.
— Vinayakk (@vinayakkm) October 4, 2020
In Sharjah.
Wow.
WOW.
MI 174/4 (18 overs; Hardik 23, Pollard 16)
Good line of attack by Sandeep but poor execution. He came around the wicket to wicket to the big-hitters and looked to cramp them for room but got it wrong on two balls and saw them both being hit for six.
MI 159/4 (17 overs; Hardik 22, Pollard 2)
SRH will like where they are this point but it could go wrong so quickly with Hardik and Pollard in the middle. They need to keep it together for three overs more.
MI 147/4 (15 overs; Hardik 13)
Manish Pandey was having a bad day in the field. A dropped catch and two clear misfields that went for four. Then, he came up with a blinder to send back Kishan. The ball was hit hard, low and straight and Pandey dived full length and took it. Stunning effort.

MI 134/3 (14 overs; Kishan 23, Hardik 1)
Another solid over from Rashid, just 8 runs and a wicket, despite being hit for a six by Kishan. Time for a strategic timeout.
MI 126/3 (13.1 overs; Kishan 23)
WICKET! de Kock went for the big shot, didn’t get any distance on it and Rashid ran a little to his left to take the catch off his own bowling. A welcome return to form for the MI keeper.
de Kock c and b Rashid Khan 67(39)
MI 126/2 (13 overs; De Kock 67, Kishan 23)
Kaul has been smashed to all parts of the ground today. He has conceded 43 runs in 3 overs. Just not his day.

MI 110/2 (12 overs; De Kock 54, Kishan 22)
17 from the Williamson over and we may not see him in the attack again. de Kock got to his fifty off 32 balls with a wonderful straight six and Kishan is starting to middle the ball more too.
MI 94/2 (11 overs; De Kock 47, Kishan 12)
Brilliant over by Rashid. Just 4 runs off it. Big decision coming up for Warner... how to use the remaining two overs? Save Rashid for the death overs or bowl him out now?
MI 90/2 (10 overs; De Kock 45, Kishan 10)
Williamson into the attack and his off-spin works very well against the two left-handers. Just 7 runs from the over.
MI 83/2 (9 overs; De Kock 40, Kishan 8)
16 runs from the Samad over and MI go into the strategic timeout all poised to change gears. In the second half of the innings, MI will be looking to get at least 120 runs. Can they?
MI 67/2 (8 overs; De Kock 25, Kishan 7)
One bad delivery from Rashid, on Kishan’s pads and that was swept away for four. But otherwise, the Afghan was bang on target.
Going to be fascinating to see how Warner uses Rashid Khan today - must be tempted to hold him back to use against Pollard and Hardik, given they score at 5.6rpo and 3.4rpo against him, respectively. #IPL2020 #MIvSRH
— Ben Jones (@benjonescricket) October 4, 2020
MI 59/2 (7 overs; De Kock 23, Kishan 1)
Manish Pandey dropped de Kock on the boundary line of Samad and that just might be the stroke of luck that will get the South African going. Either which way, it eased the pressure a bit.
MI 48/2 (6 overs; De Kock 13, Kishan 0)
This is the lowest Powerplay score in seven innings in Sharjah. MI have the big-hitters still to come but they want to be careful here. SRH still have Rashid up their sleeves.
With the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav, @Sidda79_KauL now has 50 wickets in IPL.#Dream11IPL #MIvSRH pic.twitter.com/UGfDxI3naq

MI 48/2 (5.5 overs; De Kock 13)
WICKET! Kaul is having a horror game but he got lucky here. It was down the leg-side and Suryakumar hit it straight to short fine leg. Anywhere else and it would have been a four. Maybe, this will change things for Kaul.
Suryakumar Yadav c T Natarajan b S Kaul 27(18)
MI 38/1 (5 overs; De Kock 12, Suryakumar 18)
Another good over by Natarajan. The first ball was smashed for four but the left-armer came back so well after that.

MI 32/1 (4 overs; De Kock 7, Suryakumar 17)
Sandeep is brought back into the attack but from the other end. Doesn’t get as much swing but still a better over than the one bowled by Kaul.
MI 25/1 (3 overs; De Kock 6, Suryakumar 12)
Kaul was brought into the attack and he just didn’t get it right. Started off with a ball down the leg-side that was hit for four, followed it up with a wide and then got hammered all over the park by Suryakumar for three consecutive fours.
MI 7/1 (2 overs; De Kock 1, Suryakumar 0)
Natarajan into the attack and he starts off well. Just one run off it.
MI 6/1 (0.5 overs; De Kock 0)
WICKET! Three dots, a six and a wicket! Sandeep strikes to send back Rohit. Great review by Bairstow. He just knew it had taken the edge. The idea of Rohit Sharma getting set on this ground is a scary one and SRH will be glad to see his back.
