Match officials were forced to extend the pre-lunch session on day one of the ongoing four-day game between India A and Australia A as the van ferrying food to the venue was stuck in the notorious Bengaluru traffic.
According to a report in Bangalore Mirror, officials waited for the van to arrive as there was no plan B in place. The food was to arrive at the venue from Ritz Carlton which is situated in the middle of the city. The match, however, is being staged at the KSCA ground in Alur which is situated at a fair distance from the hotel.
The Karnataka State Cricket Association officials washed their hands off the issue, stating that the responsibility of providing food for the players lied with the BCCI.
“It’s an international game and we were to provide the best of facilities,” BCCI operations manager Saba Karim was quoted as saying. “I am waiting for a report from my staff but I think the match officials took whatever decision needed to be taken,”
