Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has clarified that an Instagram post regarding the Indian cricket team’s selection policies that was attributed to him was not in fact posted by him.

The 46-year-old, who is in the United Kingdom as a broadcaster for the India-England series, posted on his official Twitter handle that the Instagram page, from which the quotes have been picked up by a news agency, is a fake one.

The Instagram post had Ganguly advising India skipper Virat Kohli to not chop and change his playing XI after defeat in the first Test against England.

“One criticism for @Virat.Kohli is that he should give a consistent run to his batters & more time before dropping them. The failure against swing in English conditions can’t be used as an excuse any more as everyone knows that it’s what you get when you come to England,” the post read.

India lost the series-opener by 31 runs as the Indian batsmen, with the exception of Kohli, failed to tackle the English attack.
