Sawarn Singh and Dushyant were among India’s 34-member rowing contingent for the 2018 Asian Games, announced on Monday. Sawarn and Dushyant won bronze in the 2014 edition of the Games held at Incheon and would be raring to better their feat at this year’s Games, starting in Jakarta on August 18.
According to a press release by the Rowing Federation of India, the team consists of 27 men, seven women, five coaches, a manager and a physio, which has been cleared by Indian Olympic Association. The Sports Ministry’s clearance, it said, is awaited.
Sawarn and Dushyant apart, the team also includes Dattu Bhaban Bokanlal, who participated in the Rio Olympics. Last edition’s participants Om Prakash, Gurinder Singh, Sonu Laxmi Narain, Navneet Kaur and Sanjukta are also included in the squad.
The team has been training at the Army Rowing Node, in the College of Military Engineering, Pune since January this year.
